(LaPresse) A 3,300-year-old burial cave from the time of Rameses II was discovered by accident last week by a mechanical digger working on a beach in Israel south of Tel Aviv. The Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) announced the find a few days ago: archaeologists who descended into the cave found dozens of intact pottery objects, bowls, pots, jars and lamps, and bronze artifacts arranged for a burial ceremony. A few days after the discovery, the tomb was ransacked by thieves who managed to steal several items.
