King recalls with 'great esteem' qualities of deceased who was 'model of self-sacrifice and loyalty' during the various high missions he was entrusted with
Moroccan diplomat Abdelouahed Belkeziz died Tuesday in a hospital in Rabat at the age of 82, his family announced, according to local new servbices.
Belkeziz, a native of Marrakech, served as Moroccan Ambassador to Iraq (1976-1978), Minister of Information (1978-1982) and Minister of Foreign Affairs (1982-1985).
He later held the post of Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) between 2001 and 2004, as well as several positions within the Faculty of Law in Rabat, the Hassan II University of Casablanca and Ibn Tofail University in Kenitra.
King Mohammed VI, the ruler of Morocco, sent a message of “condolences and compassion” to the Belkeziz family, expressing his “deep sorrow and emotion” upon learning of the death.
Belkeziz will be buried after the Al-Asr prayer at the Chouhada cemetery in Rabat.
