Mondo di mezzo: convictions of Buzzi and Carminati upheld

Authors of corruption conspiracy to serve long jail sentences

The Supreme Court has upheld the bis appeal convictions for Salvatore Buzzi and Massimo Carminati, and the sentences for the two protagonists of the corruption conspiracy reconstructed by the ‘Mondo di mezzo’ investigation become final. The sentence for Buzzi, who was arrested in Calabria overnight, is 12 years and 10 months in prison, while Carminati is sentenced to 10 years. In October 2019, it was precisely a Cassation ruling that had dropped charges of mafia association against all the defendants in the case.
