(LaPresse) More than 1,000 people dead, houses destroyed, hundreds more injured and missing in the 6.1 magnitude earthquake that struck the south-east of Afghanistan, on the border with Pakistan. The earthquake was felt in a radius of over 500 km, and as far away as India. The Taliban leader has emerged from reclusion to ask for help from global humanitarian agencies. But many of the aid groups left the country when they were prevented from doing their work by the Taliban.
