(LaPresse) New action by “Last Generation” ecologists who blocked traffic this morning on the outer carriageway of the Rome Ring Road at the height of km 27,800. Activists sat in the traffic lanes displaying three banners against the use of fossil fuels and carbonization. Demands included immediately stopping the reopening of existing coal-fired power plants, halting plans for new drilling for natural gas exploration and extraction, and increasing the use of solar and wind power. Scenes of nervousness among the jammed motorists and protesters that fortunately did not result in accidents. Traffic police intervened at the scene and cleared the demonstrators by weight, allowing traffic to resume normally.
