Three teenagers have died in a violent car crash that occurred in the outskirts of Palermo (in Sicily, in the south of Italy) on Tuesday night, authorities said. A fourth teenager who was on the same car was severely injured and his conditions are considered as life-threatening. Two of the victims were 19 years old, and the third was only 16. The injured teenager is 19 and is currently hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Ospedale Civico in Palermo.
According to the authorities, the four teenagers were speeding down the 186 state highway on board of a Opel Corsa at around 22.50 (21.50 GMT) on Tuesday night, when the driver lost control of the vehicle. The car rolled over and crashed heavily against a house near the road. Carabinieri and firefighters intervened on the scene and extracted all the victims from what remained of the car. They sent the injured boy to the hospital, while the other three teenagers were pronounced dead on the spot.
