Italy will make it through its difficulties, says Moscovici

The European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Pierre Moscovici, said that he is confident that Italy will solve its financial problems on its own, with the help of the EU institutions. In an interview with Bloomberg news agency, Moscovici said that he is "quite confident that Italy, as always, will muddle through and solve its problems with our help". At the same time, Moscovici also said that the European Commission "is ready to take into consideration the expenses for the refugee crisis or for an earthquake", citing situations that are both affecting Italy at the moment. According to Moscovici, Italy is also facing a "populist threat" and, for this reason, "we supporting the efforts by prime minister Matteo Renzi to make Italy a strong partner of the EU".
