Italian police investigate over death of American woman in Florence

Italian police are investigating the death of an American woman whose body was found last Saturday in Florence. Ashley Olsen, 35, was found dead in her apartment in via Santa Monica, in the city centre. According to the authorities, Olsen had strangling signs on her neck, so investigators think that she might have been killed. On Monday, the police found a black bra on a bycicle left on a wall about fifty meters from Olsen's house. The forensics squad is now analysing it in order to understand if it belonged to Olsen.

The police are also examining the tapes of the security cameras in the area, to determine every possible movement to and from Olsen's house. The woman lived alone in the apartment, with the only company of a beagle dog. Her landlady and her boyfriend found the body together and gave the alarm, after the man didn't hear from Olsen for several days. The man apparently had a fight with Olsen about three days before the body was found. Olsen's boyfriend, a 40-years-old Italian artist, was questioned for several hours by the investigators, but he is not treated as a suspect.
